Case Study
Many people around the world have to walk long distances to access clean and safe water supplies. For many vulnerable women and children much of the day is spent, often in unsafe conditions, fetching water for themselves and their families.
In vulnerable areas of Papua New Guinea, Caritas is working with communities to provide climate resilient water tanks and collection systems with taps and solar lighting for safe access at night. Ongoing management and maintenance of these systems will be overseen by community-led water committees, supporting the community in their new way of living.
