A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the Wewak diocese, Papua New Guinea, early on Sunday 24th March, with terrifying force and causing widespread destruction.
Several people have died, with the death toll unfortunately expected to rise.
Approximately 1,000 homes have been destroyed, and hundreds of families displaced.
The combination of extensive flooding and the devastating earthquake has left many in these communities without essential food or shelter.
Flooding has submerged homes, destroyed crops, and contaminated drinking water sources. This has only added to the existing challenges of malnutrition and lack of clean water faced by communities across Papua New Guinea.
