Caritas Internationalis

In both emergency response and long-term development, Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand often partners with other members of the Caritas Internationalis confederation. This international network consists of 168 Catholic agencies working together around the world for justice, peace, and authentic human development.

Caritas represents God’s love for all humanity.

General Assembly 2011

The confederation celebrated its 60th Anniversary at its General Assembly in Rome in May 2011. For 60 years, Caritas Internationalis has responded with love and action to human suffering in an unjust and unequal world.

At the General Assembly, Caritas Internationalis also set forth its new strategic framework for the next four years focusing on One Human Family – Zero Poverty.

Caritas seeks a world in which the continued existence of extreme poverty is unacceptable. Zero poverty is possible if we act as one human family.
