The desire to respond to the urgent needs of neighbours suffering as a result of natural disaster or other emergency is a natural, human response and an expression of our faith. There are many examples of the practical outpouring of love following emergencies in places as diverse as Christchurch and Haiti.
Catholic social teaching and good development practice guide the response of Catholic organisations following a disaster. This booklet offers a brief introduction to these principles. It is intended to inform donors and recipients of aid, as well as guide the work of parish, Diocesan and other Church groups who are considering projects, programmes and other forms of support following an emergency.
