Local Initiatives for Sustainable Agriculture (LISA)

SBC works with adivasi (indigenous peoples) and poor farmers in Jhinaigati in northern Bangladesh to grow food for families using organic agricultural techniques. Farmers Alliance groups (50 percent women farmers) are concerned about the impacts of chemical fertilisers used by other farmers in the area. The groups are reclaiming traditional indigenous knowledge and engaging with landless poor to assist them to secure government land on lease for farming.
