In 2010 Caritas provided emergency relief for Indonesia, Burma and Sri Lanka. This was in addition to long-term commitments to the Pakistan floods and to Burmese refugees in Thailand.
Caritas continues to support Japan a year on from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. 15,000 died in the disaster and hundreds of thousands lost their homes. Caritas responded very quickly with food and support and one year on on they continue to help in a variety of ways.
Floods in Pakistan in July-August 2010 were the worst in 80 years. 18 million people struggled to find food and water and to keep a roof over their heads. Caritas is helping people meet basic needs with dignity.
