Caritas promotes peace with justice for all peoples in the Holy Land - both in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.
Caritas Jerusalem each year issues a statement for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (29 November). In 2013, despite disillusionment with current peace negotiations, Director of Caritas Jerusalem Fr. Raed Abusahlia says, 'we believe that there are no military solutions to this conflict and there is no force that can control the will of a nation asking for its freedom and there are no people in the world who would accept to live under occupation forever. Therefore, this occupation should come to its end as soon as possible, once and for ever not only for the benefit of the Palestinian people but also for the future of Israel and the Israeli people.'
Watch The Holy Land: Hearts of Hope which shows a new partnership between Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand and Caritas Jerusalem to provide better community health care in Gaza and the West Bank of Palestine. The work is presented in the context of the Holy Land today.
