Caritas is funding 10 scholarships for Catholic young people to join other youth from around New Zealand in attending the Youth Climate Summit Power Shift in Auckland 7-9 December. The target age group for the gathering are 16-30 year olds.
‘Power Shift will be part conference, part festival, part workshop and part celebration of the power of hundreds of young people to change the world. Over the 3 days you’ll engage with climate solutions, hear from inspirational speakers, learn new skills, be part of launching a massive climate campaign for 2013, be entertained with music and dance, throw yourself into a media stunt and make new friends.’ – Power Shift website
To ensure representation from the Catholic schools community, Caritas is funding 10 scholarships which will cover registration costs for young people who are currently attending, or have attended, a Catholic school. These scholarships are primarily intended for young people from Auckland and the surrounding region, as they do not include accommodation and transport costs. However, applications are also welcome from other parts of the country from applicants who can meet these costs. Successful applicants are expected to commit to attending a meeting with Caritas Auckland staff following the event.
