Sunday 5 February 2012 is Papua Land of Peace Day. We invite you to pray for peace with justice in West Papua. You may wish to use prayers from a liturgy resource prepared by Claude Mostowik.

St Andrew's on the Terrace in Wellington will include a candle-lighting ceremony and prayer for Papua at its 10am service on the day.

The Papua Land of Peace movement springs from a 2,000 initiative by religious leaders of the Christian (Catholic and Protestant), Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist faiths in West Papua. Concerned at the level of systematic violence in West Papua, they joined together to campaign for peace under the banner 'Papua, Land of Peace'.

This interfaith collaboration is based on respect for human dignity. The religious leaders believe that those who hold different political and philosophical positions need the opportunity to constructively debate those positions.
