Lent in schools

Activities for Years 1-13 help students connect with people distant from ourselves. Activities encourage learning about the complex challenges that we face concerning conflict, compromise and efforts towards a peaceful solution for all. This resource can be downloaded below and has also been sent to all Catholic schools as a CD ROM.

This resource contains ideas for primary and secondary schools, in the context of the Holy Land - Israel and Palestine today. Our main ideas include:

• The Holy Land is the crucible of our Christian faith
• When we break open stereotypes we begin to grow a more tolerant and peaceful society
• Catholic social teaching about human equality and human dignity is a foundation to making just choices
• Caritas is working in partnership with Caritas Jerusalem to help the poor and vulnerable.

Lent resources for schools are sent in November each year. Resources from earlier years are also available and able to be used in the classroom. Lent 2011 focused on our common humanity.
