Schools raised over $153,000 in 2011 – of which 25 percent went to Christchurch earthquake relief and recovery.
The Lent Appeal sparked some original ways to fundraise: from Red and Black mufti days, to solidarity days, to a carnival day at Sacred Heart College, Napier. St Joseph’s school in Ashburton held a spellathon that raised $3,632.20!
In addition, many schools have felt moved to fundraise specifically to the Christchurch earthquake appeal. Overall schools have donated $69,010 to this appeal. An incredible response to our neighbours in need. We also know that many schools have accepted ‘refugees’ from Christchurch and this made a great impact on students nationwide.
