Submission on the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement

  • Caritas considers trade in regard to its contribution to the dignity and human rights of all people, particularly the poorest and most vulnerable
  • Consideration of the China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement highlights inequalities of wealth and participation within and between the two countries.
  • Caritas has concerns over the effectiveness of the associated agreements on labour and environment cooperation, but asks that they be used to the fullest extent possible to promote better labour and environmental practices in both countries
