• New Zealand has a moral obligation to assist its neighbours of the Pacific Island Forum when they are in need.
• New Zealand must lead the world in dealing with environmental refugees.
• Caritas would like New Zealand to act with integrity in future deployments of peacekeepers and police in the Pacific.
• Caritas believes that the areas of focus for New Zealand's aid to the Pacific need to be on health-care, education, governance and livelihood building.
