Summary

• Caritas recognises the urgency of responding to climate change
• We believe a combination of measures will be required to encourage more sustainable land use, as has been the case with other behavioural change such as stopping smoking
• We give highest priority to measures that actually reduce emissions and mitigate climate change, over other aims such as adaptation and capitalizing on business opportunities
• We seek equitable outcomes, in which individuals are not left to carry alone the cost of structural changes which benefit our whole society
