Emergency update on Caritas’ response to the aftermath of Sri Lanka’s three-decade conflict. Caritas Sri Lanka is helping to rehabilitate communities as they resettle, providing support for schools, and trauma conselling. In Burma, Caritas is assisting small-scale farmers and aspiring small business owners as the country recovers from Cyclone Nargis. In Cambodia, Caritas partner Development and Partnership in Action is celebrating the return of an area of community forest following a four year struggle. Locally, Caritas is supporting the repeal of the Foreshore and Seabed Act and a commitment by New Zealand to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.
