The Rulna School project 2007-09
Over 2007-2009, fundraising by New Zealand primary schools helped build permanent classrooms and teachers accommodation for Rulna school in the remote Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Mufti Mania days raised over $70,000 towards the project, which was a joint effort with the New Zealand Catholic Primary Principals' Association (NZCPPA).
The project aimed to build a relationship between children in New Zealand and children in a remote area of the Western Highlands.
In 2009, Leo Duce from Caritas and Mark Gregory, principal of St Joseph’s School in Christchurch, journeyed to Rulna to see for themselves what was happening.
